Celebrity workouts can sometimes feel unattainable for the average person, but many celebrities face the same time pressures as us and have to fit a workout into the time they have available.

Case in point is Jennifer Aniston, who recently launched Jen’s Express Series: Arms & Abs through her partnership with fitness app Pvolve. There are six workouts in the series, all under 15 minutes, and they feature many of Aniston’s favorite upper-body and core moves.

It’s taught by her personal trainer Dani Coleman, who is also the vice president of training at Pvolve.

“When we have time together, we might do a longer session. But other days, especially when she’s short on time, she fits in a quick 15-minute workout like the ones in the Express Series,” Coleman tells Fit&Well.

“She focuses on workouts that make her feel strong and energized, which naturally makes consistency easier,” Coleman adds.

For a flavor of what to expect, Coleman shared the 15-minute core workout below, which uses the Pvolve P.ball, the brand’s take on a Pilates ball. (The equipment you need for the whole series is available in Jen’s Arms & Abs Bundle.)

How to do the workout

You’ll need a small Pilates ball.

Repeat the following circuit two or three times, resting for a minute between each round.

Glute bridge x 15

Dead bug x 10 each side

Curl over the ball x 15

Prone back extension x 12

Side plank leg lift x 30-60sec each side

Mountain climber x 30-60sec

Coleman says that moving slowly and using your breath will help you get the most out of this routine.

“The biggest tip is to slow down, stay connected to your breath, and to stay present in the work to help you move more mindfully through these exercises,” she says.

“Focus on moving at a controlled tempo throughout the exercises. Rest when needed,” Coleman adds.

Watch a run through of the workout

How to do the exercises

1.
Actress Jennifer Aniston has launched a new four-week challenge with fitness app Pvolve to help people get into the right mindset to exercise.

The Worth It Everytime campaign, created in collaboration with mental wellness app Headspace, encourages people to view exercise as something that energizes them rather than punishes them.

Pvolve members can access 30-35 minute exercise classes—both in person and online—as well as 30 days of free access to the Headspace app, which offers guided meditations and stress-busting tools to build lasting habits and emotional resilience.

Members who complete all 16 workouts will receive a limited edition Everything Pouch, created exclusively for the challenge.

Aniston, a Pvolve partner and fitness enthusiast, admits she doesn’t always feel in the mood to exercise.

“People assume I’m always motivated, but that couldn’t be further from the truth. I have plenty of days where I don’t want to work out at all.”

However, she says training with Pvolve keeps her going on down days because the app makes exercise feel good rather than a punishment.

“What I’ve learned is that the conversation in your head is actually part of the work. You show up for yourself anyway, you move a little, and then something shifts. You feel better. That feeling is what brings me back.”

“I know I’m doing something good for my body long term, and that makes showing up feel worth it every time.”

Pvolve head trainer Dani Coleman adds that, “when movement and mindset work together, something clicks.

“Consistency becomes natural and a workout stops feeling like something you push through and starts feeling like something that truly supports your total-body health.”

To help new members get started, Pvolve is offering 10% off sitewide.

A post shared by Pvolve (@pvolve)

A photo posted by on

If you are looking to build strength and fitness at home, you don’t need a full gym. You can get an effective workout with minimal equipment, according to Jennifer Aniston’s personal trainer Dani Coleman. The head trainer at Pvolve says it’s worth investing in a P3 trainer, a versatile piece of equipment that she uses to train the Hollywood actress.

"It’s hard to pick one thing to recommend as I love all our products, but I would say the P3 trainer is going to be my number one pick and it’s also one of Jen’s favorite pieces of equipment. It’s a total body workout in one piece of equipment and it’s super versatile," said Coleman, who puts Aniston through her paces three to four times a week.

<a data-dimension112="09035d44-7439-4f64-a500-0e064639ba58" data-action="Deal Block" data-label="You can currently get a 14-day free trial to the Pvolve platform when you buy the P3 trainer for $89.99. When I got the chance to speak to Coleman recently, she emphasized the importance of resistance training for anyone in their 50s.

"One thing we stress at Pvolve is how important weight training is in your fifties to help build lean muscle mass and boost metabolic rates, and to keep you moving long-term and keeping your autonomy as you age.

"But it’s also worth stressing that working out looks different at each phase of your life. So in your fifties it’s going to look different to how you worked out in your forties and in your thirties and that’s something we tap into specifically when we think about women’s wellness and the different life cycles, such as perimenopause and menopause."

We reviewed Pvolve in 2024 and our tester was impressed, saying that it made her a Pilates convert. Strength training helps counteract this, improving muscle tone and boosting bone density—essential for reducing the risk of osteoporosis, a condition that weakens bones.

Other types of training can help you stay strong and steady, too, like balance training.

"Balance training is crucial for stability and longevity. There have been so many studies connecting the ability to stand on one leg for ten seconds to being able to stay upright long-term, as well as fall prevention.

"Anything with single leg balance is good, and use ankle weights to add resistance. This helps to build up that kind of really smart, practical strength to maintain your independence."

For those new to strength training Coleman recommends starting with lighter ankle weights.

"They're very beginning-friendly.
You might be exercising regularly and making healthy food choices, but if you want to hit your fitness goals you need to prioritize mobility training according to Jennifer Aniston’s trainer.

Dani Coleman, the director of training and head trainer for Pvolve, says that mobility work is just as important as diet and exercise. It improves joint function and your range of motion so that you can move more efficiently. When you can do that, you can train harder and do daily activities with ease.

Coleman trains Hollywood actress Aniston three to four times a week for around 45-60 minutes and always includes mobility work in her warm-ups.

"Mobility is an easy thing to add to your workouts," says Coleman. She recommends spending 5-10 minutes doing mobility exercises, three to four times a week. Here are two of her favorite moves.

Hip circles

Coleman recommends prioritizing hip and spinal mobility exercises, especially those with a rotational element—which is why hip circles often feature in her classes.

You’ve probably seen people doing this classic warm-up move in gym class. You simply stand, place your hands on your hips, and move them in a circle one way then the other.

"As you start to age your mid back and your hips can tend to lock up so everything kind of starts to move in tandem," says Coleman. Hip circles can help you get some mobility back into those areas.

Chair stand

The second move Coleman recommends is a simple chair stand, which means standing up from a seated position without using your hands.

"This gets tough to do when you age, so it’s really important to practice," she says.

Doing this move will improve your hip, knee and ankle mobility. It takes a bit of lower-body strength, too, so you might find it works your leg muscles.

Why mobility work is important

Mobility training is important as it helps us maintain a full range of motion in our joints so that we can nail proper form during exercise. It also helps us move more easily when we're doing everyday tasks, like bending over to tie our shoes or putting away our shopping.

Coleman confirms that Aniston is always game for trying mobility moves and exercises she suggests.

"Honestly, there's nothing I could throw at her that she wouldn't be up for trying. We’re at that point where she trusts me to kind of just put her through it. I haven’t found an exercise she doesn’t like yet, but I’ll keep you posted if I do!"

Have you heard of Pvolve? The Pilates-inspired app launched in 2017 but exploded in popularity last year when Jennifer Aniston lent her support. The actress said she fell in love with the app’s low-impact home workouts in 2021 when they helped her stay fit while recovering from a back injury. She was such a fan that she became an ambassador two years later and started working out with the app’s head trainer, Dani Coleman.

Now Coleman and Aniston have teamed up to create a 30-day workout schedule that reflects the actress’ exercise regime. There are 12 classes to complete (three each week) along with three optional extra sessions you can do if you want more of a challenge.

The workouts include a mix of strength training and cardio, with all classes focusing on low-impact exercises that can be adapted to your fitness level. Sign up to Jen's Spring Challenge to see the full schedule.

There’s a seven-day trial to take advantage of, then it's $14.99 a month to access the workouts. Many routines in Anniston’s 30-day challenge require Pvolve equipment, like sliders and their Pilates precision mat, but alternatively, you can search for equipment-free alternatives on the app, which will show you classes targeting the same body areas.

What is Pvolve?

Pvolve features low-impact, Pilates-inspired classes designed to build strength, balance, flexibility and cardio fitness.

Not all of the classes are typical Pilates routines of slow, controlled movements. There are also plenty of high-tempo cardio routines on the app, along with meditation sessions and some stretching sequences. A lot of the classes emphasize core work, helping you to develop those all-important mid-body muscles.

Its founders describe it as a science-backed app, with a clinical advisory board designing the workouts in line with recent exercise studies.
I’ve always prioritized running and strength training over other styles of exercise. I do running for fun, and I strength train to make sure I can keep running without injuries. I've tried hot yoga, Pilates and slow-style exercise as well, but I find it a bit boring.

However, when the opportunity came up to test the Pilates-inspired workout app Pvolve, I was intrigued. I was nearing the end of a marathon training plan and my body was in need of some TLC. Jennifer Aniston had also partnered with the brand and given it her seal of approval—and if she recommends something, I'm trying it.

The workouts focus on low-impact, resistance-based movements. A lot of the sessions can be done without equipment, but you can also buy various Pvolve exercise tools to tap into more challenging workouts. I tried the app with the ‘signature bundle’, which includes a precision mat, P.ball and P.band plus a one month subscription.

There are several different styles of workout on the app, including cardio sessions, strength training routines, stretching sequences and meditations. I tried all of the above, and was surprised at how effective I found the virtual classes.

Pvolve signature bundle: was <del>$199.99</del>, now $179.99

Save $20 This bundle from Pvolve comes with the precision mat, Pvolve exercise ball and the Pband. But the main difference I noticed between Pvolve and other apps is that it focuses on low-impact movement: there's no jumping involved, even during the cardio classes.

Classes fall under seven different categories: strength & sculpt, progressive weight training, cardio burn, mat definition (core-focused workouts), recover & stretch, movement therapy and meditation. You can also filter classes by their length, body area and intensity. There are live classes too, streamed via Zoom, where you can chat with trainers before and after sessions.

The workouts encourage slow, controlled movements that work smaller, overlooked muscles. Even the larger compound exercises that build full-body strength are done at a slower pace. This was difficult for someone who's used to running and doing faced-paced HIRT-style workout, but I still enjoyed the challenge.

Here's everything I learned about the app—and myself—after using it for three weeks.

You don't need weights to challenge your muscles

If you think the only way to challenge your muscles is with heavy weights and a long gym session, think again. These workouts hurt and made me feel weak. I didn't find this disheartening, though—it motivated me to get stronger.

The first workout I tried was a standing upper-body sculpt, which used a resistance band. It strengthened my shoulders, upper-back and arms in just 15 minutes and my muscles burned for quite some time after.

I then moved onto some equally challenging lower-body workouts. I have to admit, the expensive precision mat came in handy during these sessions. The mat costs a whopping $89.99, but I found that its markers helped me find the correct position for each exercise.

Virtual classes aren't always boring

I get bored when I’m not doing something fast and high-impact. I also find I'm easily distracted when I'm trying to do an at-home workout. But I was pleasantly surprised by how engaging I found this app. The trainers kept me focused and the challenging workouts meant that I didn't have the energy to get distracted.

I also held the image of Jennifer Aniston’s rock hard abs in my mind during the core workouts, which helped me push through the pain, knowing that I was on the path to greatness.

Is Pvolve worth it?

The Pvolve app-only membership costs $14.99 a month ($149.99 a year). If you get the signature bundle, which has a ball, precision mat and resistance band, you have to pay $199.99. There's also a a 'transformation bundle' which costs $624.99, and comes with 13 different pieces of equipment, including ankle bands, hand weights, gliders and a foam rollers.

Equipment isn’t required to take on plenty of the Pvolve workouts, and while I did get a lot of benefits from the precision mat, I'd hesitate to recommend forking out over $600 for home workout equipment. For me, the $199.99 signature bundle hits the sweet spot, offering tools that will challenge you without over-cluttering your living room.

In my three weeks using Pvolve, I got stronger and the workouts got easier. I'd recommend the app to anyone who enjoys Pilates-style exercise routines, or who needs to do low-impact workouts to protect their joints.

It sometimes seems like the fittest and healthiest celebrities go to extreme measures to stay in shape as they age. However, 53-year-old Jennifer Aniston keeps her fitness real simple these days, using what she calls the "15-15-15 method".

Aniston has always paid attention to enhancing her health as she ages. Lots of women look to their diet, taking some of the best vitamins for women over 50 (and you can grab some bargains in our vitamin sale round-up) alongside working out on some of the best exercise machines to lose weight. But you don't have to spend hours doing cardio in order to get the benefits of an active lifestyle: just 45 minutes will do.

The 15-15-15 method requires you to spend 15 minutes on one of the best exercise bikes, 15 minutes on an elliptical machine, and 15 minutes running (on one of the best treadmills or outdoors). If you have access to two, or all three machines, it's a great way to do 45 minutes of cardio without getting bored.

In a cover feature for InStyle, Aniston said, "I had an injury last fall and I was only able to do Pilates, which I absolutely love. But I was missing that kind of sweat when you just go for it. I'm going back to my 15-15-15."

Three sets of 15-minute intervals on different equipment is a great way to switch up your usual workout and doesn't ask for too much of your time. If you lead a busy life, it's best at the start of the week to pencil in where this 45-minute slot of exercise can fit into your busy schedule.

Aniston's 15-15-15 workout method falls in line with advice from the American Heart Association. They advise adults to aim for at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity aerobic activity a week, and you'd only need to do three 45-50 minute sessions in order to fulfill this requirement.

If you have a home gym with a few different machines in it, then this will be super convenient for you. But if you don't, joining a local gym will gain you access to various cardio machines, or you can improvise at home using the 15-15-15 principle to split up several exercise disciplines. For example, you could spend 30 minutes completing some of the best exercises for weight loss, followed by this 15-minute dumbbell arm workout.

Keeping up with strength training is equally as important as aerobic activity when you get older. Muscle mass does naturally decline with age therefore, regularly including some of the best kettlebells or one of the best resistance bands into your exercise routine will help to improve strength and make everyday activities feel easier.

Aniston also often shares on her Instagram how she uses supplements to help boost her health. There are so many different kinds of supplements out there now but the important thing to look for is the health benefits one can help you out with. We recommend everyone ensures they get enough protein to help their muscles to repair and grow - you can find some of the best protein powders for women in our guide.
