I’m a fitness writer and these are the three Bodyfit by Amy workouts I keep coming back to
From beginner-friendly routines to standing abs, the trainer has you covered
I've been traveling around and visiting family recently and haven't had access to my usual weights and exercise equipment.
This means that I've had to switch up my core training.
Mostly, I've been following online workouts from my favorite trainer, Amy Kiser Schemper.
Her YouTube channel (Bodyfit by Amy) features lots of equipment-free workouts you can do anywhere.
Her routines are short but effective, with minimal rest times. I like her gentle way of explaining the moves, too.
Here are three of my favorites that you can do at home.
My favorite Bodyfit by Amy workout for beginners
The 25-minute Pilates-inspired core workout is designed for beginners.
Start your week with achievable workout ideas, health tips and wellbeing advice in your inbox.
It features two of my favorite core moves: dead bug, which fires up deep core muscles and challenges your coordination, and side plank, which works the obliques on the sides of your torso.
Schemper also includes clamshells, which strengthen muscles around your hips and glutes. It's a great move for rebuilding hip strength and mobility if you spend a lot of time sitting down.
My favorite standing abs Bodyfit by Amy workout
Not every core workout has to happen on a mat.
When I don't want to get on the floor, I turn to this 12-minute standing session.
It features just six moves and requires no equipment, but the faster pace will get your heart rate up.
Many of Schemper’s moves are contralateral (moving opposite sides of your body), so they challenge your coordination.
As a lot of the exercises are performed on one leg, they also test your balance—something I’m working on now that I’m approaching 50.
My favorite cardio and core Bodyfit by Amy workout
This fun 25-minute workout begins with a dynamic warm-up followed by two circuits and a mix of standing and mat-based core moves.
Schemper keeps the intensity up and the good vibes high as she guides you through moves such as standing mountain climbers, cross punches and knee-hop punches.
I like this one because it's pacy. I finish it feeling energized and satisfied that I’ve worked hard.
