I’m going back to the gym for the first time in years—here are eight things under $15 I’m shopping in Amazon’s Big Deal Days sale
Shop budget-friendly gym essentials

I haven’t set foot in a gym since the COVID-19 pandemic, relying on home workout equipment to keep me fit.
However, now I'm moving house and with a gym within walking distance at my new place, I'm finally getting ready to go back.
Part of that process has been making a shopping list for all the things I'll need, and as it's Amazon’s annual Prime Big Deal Days sale, I've found some handy discounts on some of my essentials.
The discounts are only available to Prime members, but you can get a 30-day free trial if you’re not a member already.
If you're heading back to the gym after a hiatus, or just looking for some cheap essentials, read on.
Prime Day fitness deals
I'll get started with the most obvious item: a gym bag. I like this one as it has a compartment for shoes, plenty of color options and a handy 20% discount.
Amazon customers give it an overall rating of 4.5 out of 5 stars and it comes in two size options.
I'm a sweaty gal. I own it. But it does mean that if I don't want to leave a puddle near the exercise bikes, I have to take a towel with me.
This one is highly rated by Amazon customers, with a 4.6 out of 5-star rating and plenty of positive reviews. It's compact, portable and dries quickly, making it a great addition to your sports bag.
I also featured these as a must for home workouts, as I won’t work out without them. I have weak wrists and, as I mentioned, I get ridiculously sweaty.
Both of these problems are fixed with built-in wrist support and grippy pads that mean I won't be dropping any kettlebells on my toes any time soon (I hope).
I'm fussy about my water bottles. I have several stainless steel caddies with all sorts of straws, clips and anti-leak technology.
However, for the gym, I want something really basic that I won't be too upset to lose when I inevitably abandon it on a treadmill.
This bottle is BPA-free, large enough not to need a refill for my standard hour-long session, and has an Amazon's Choice sticker, meaning—in part—it’s ready to ship and it'll be with you in no time at all.
Over my time as a fitness writer, I've met many high-tech protein shakers, all claiming to eliminate clumps and keep your shake cool, with some even featuring electric mechanisms.
I still go back to this essential (and budget-friendly) design. It works. Plus, with a two-pack, you don't need to worry so much about washing up between gym trips.
With thousands of high ratings and plenty of positive reviews, this would be my top pick, especially with a 33% discount.
I will caveat this one: check the changing room first. Some gym lockers have built-in keys that you can take with you, some require a coin, while for others you need to bring your own lock (or live dangerously and leave it open).
This pink one is easy to spot, so you won't forget where your locker is, and the four-digit combination should be fairly easy to remember.
Post-workout recharge snack? Sorted.
Several of my gym-going colleagues love CLIFF Bars, so I'll be adding these to my cart before I head in myself.
With 9g of protein and 260 calories per bar, they're great for a refuel and will keep you going until your next proper meal.
If you change or shower at the gym, a waterproof bag that you can grab and take into the cubicle with you is a must-have.
Whether you keep toiletries in it or want somewhere to put your sweaty clothes post-workout, this handy pouch has you covered.
If you're going for a swim, it'll protect your gym bag from your wet costume, and you won't have to worry about shampoo explosions ruining your day either.
If you want a slightly more neutral color scheme, this mesh toiletries bag is $5.59.
