Last summer, I was rarely seen without my Keen Hyperport H2 sandals.

They’re the perfect blend of summery and rugged—able to support your foot over uneven terrain and handle aquatic adventures, but also stylish and breezy.

Just in time for the unofficial start of summer, the Hyperport H2 is reduced by 25% for Memorial Day weekend at REI, so you’ll be prepared for a vacation trek.

I rated this sandal 4.5 out of 5 stars when I tested them, thanks to its tough design and the speed at which they dried after a dip in water. As a keen wild swimmer, I value a pair of shoes that can be worn into the river, but also comfortably worn home again.

One of the best features of the Hyperport H2 is the toe protection, which many sandals lack. The rubber of the outsole comes up to cover the arch of the foot and over the end to protect these sensitive areas from damage on the trail.

When you think of sandals, you probably imagine something quite flimsy, with little support. Not so with the Keen Hyperport H2. These summer shoes are surprisingly well cushioned.

I tend to walk in road running shoes, and while the Hyperport H2 is not quite as bouncy as those, it does offer remarkably good energy return for trail-ready footwear.

My only complaint is that they were a little uncomfortable for me without socks and got slick on the inside from sweat and my sun cream. However, this was easily fixed with a pair of socks.
