Today is Black Friday—you’ve made it. Congratulations to everyone who held out until now to look for bargains.

It feels like the Black Friday sales begin earlier and earlier every year, but for those who can wait, the day itself often features the best deals. Already I’m seeing more reductions of over 40% which, to my mind, represents the true spirit of Black Friday.

I’m the editor of Fit&Well and I’ve been covering the Black Friday sales for more than five years and all week the team have been finding discounts on items that have helped them improve their wellbeing.

I’ll digest the best of our coverage here and keep you up-to-date with the best discounts from today. Happy shopping.

Skechers Women's Aero Spark Hands Free Slip-ins Sneaker
Save $42
Skechers Women's Aero Spark Hands Free Slip-ins Sneaker: was $140 now $98 at Amazon

This comfy Skechers walking and running shoe was only released this year, so we were delighted to see it reduced already. An early price drop sold out in days, so it’s great to get a second bite of the apple.

BalanceFrom Hex Dumbbells—10lb pair
Save 49%
BalanceFrom Hex Dumbbells—10lb pair: was $35.05 now $18 at Walmart

With almost half off at Walmart, this is a fantastic deal for a pair of dumbbells. There are discounts across the range, starting at 5lb and going up in 5lb increments to 50lb, with a 60lb pair also reduced. It’s a great time to add a range of dumbbells to your home gym.

Garmin Forerunner 165
Save $50
Garmin Forerunner 165: was $249.99 now $199.99 at Amazon

I’m a huge fan of Garmin running watches and fitness trackers, but my word can they get expensive. You don’t need to spend upwards of $500. This more affordable model successfully coached a contributor from couch to 5K to 10K. In my mind, it’s a smarter buy for most people.

Aptly named

Black Friday is a great time to make a purchase on those one-off premium purchases. But it’s also a great time to stock up on your regular purchases and save a few bucks in the process. Optimum Nutrition’s Gold Standard Whey is a perennially popular protein powder and, as such, is rarely discounted, so I always look out for deals on it when Black Friday rolls around.

Optimum Nutrition’s Black Friday sale offers 20% off and free shipping with the code ONSAVE20, but it notably excludes the 5lb and 10lb tubs of Gold Standard 100% Whey.

If you’re trying to stock up for less, your best option is Dicks’, which is selling the 5lb tub for $59.99, beating Amazon’s $69.99.

Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard 100% Whey
Save 25%
Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard 100% Whey: was $79.99 now $59.99 at DICK'S Sporting Goods

This deal is available on the Double Rich Chocolate and Vanilla Ice Cream flavors.

Expert picks from the Gymshark sale

You can’t really go wrong with gymwear from Gymshark, but it pays to listen to someone who works out in Gymshark gear, or someone who gets to try on lots of Gymshark clothes. Samatha Cubbins ticks both boxes as manager of Gymshark’s Lift Club.

My colleague Ruth Gaukrodger interviewed her recently and asked for her favorite pieces and all four of them are reduced. Here’s what she picked and why.

Gymshark Legacy Regular Leggings
Save 30%
Gymshark Legacy Regular Leggings: was $54 now $37.80 at Gymshark US

Cubbins says she wears the Legacy leggings whenever she's doing Olympic lifting style workouts, as they're comfortable and squat-proof.

“They feel really comfortable; I can move in them, I know that they aren't sheer,” says Cubbins.

“I really like the pattern and the design on the back and the waistband is a little bit higher, so I just feel comfortable and it gives me a reference point to brace my core and push into my leggings [during lifts].”

Gymshark Whitney Leggings
Gymshark Whitney Leggings: was $50 now $30 at Gymshark US

The classic Whitney leggings are another staple that Cubbins uses regularly.

“They've been my favorite since day one. I like the fit and the feel of these. They're quite tight around your legs, so they hook everything in. They make your butt look good!” she says.

“I'm very simple with my selection on the clothing. I quite like the leggings without the pattern on them.

“I feel good when I've got a plain legging on, and I don't have loads of lines on there.”

Gymshark Ruched Sports Bra
Save 40%
Gymshark Ruched Sports Bra: was $30 now $18 at Gymshark US

“Most of the time I'm training, I'll be in a sports bra, and my main sports bras that I like are the rouched ones because they're plain,” says Cubbins.

“All the colors are quite bold, so it's either blue or pink. Again, I like bold colors or just one color rather than like a tie dye type look.”

Gymshark | We Do Gym Power T-Shirt
Save 50%
Gymshark | We Do Gym Power T-Shirt: was $36 now $18 at Gymshark US

Cubbins says she prefers to wear the men's T-shirts when she's working out.

“I like the material, it's quite loose, it just looks cool. I quite like the quirky look, something a little bit different.

“I know lots of girls wear guys' t-shirts as well now, but I like the colors that we have and I like the fit of them. I like the way they kind of drape around your shoulders.”

You heard it here first—Hoka Clifton 10 reduced at Dicks’

Hoka Clifton 10

I’ve spotted a discount on the Hoka Clifton 10—the most current generation of Hoka’s well-loved shoe and the pair rated as the best Hoka by Fit&Well’s walking shoe supremo Lou Mudge.

Lou’s working on a write-up of the deal right now, but I wanted to share it as early as possible.

Dick’s is selling the women’s Hoka Clifton 10 for $111.57. That’s $10 more than Hoka itself is selling the Clifton 9.

In her guide to the best walking shoes, Lou writes: “The best Hoka shoe I’ve ever tested! The Clifton 10 improves on the finest points of the Clifton 9, and is comfortable from the very first step. Well cushioned, lightweight and well-ventilated—making this a great shoe for long walks, and on unforgiving hard surfaces.”
