Lois Mackenzie is a Fitness Writer for Fit&Well and its sister site Coach, covering strength training workouts with weights, accessible ways to stay active at home, and the top ways to get into running. She joined the team in 2023 from Newsquest Media Group, where she was a Senior Reporter across sports, trends, and lifestyle news.
She is an avid runner, hill walker, and tamer of two border collies, often taking the dogs running through the streets of Glasgow, Scotland, with her trusty waist lead. She also tests all the latest running gear, from shoes to anti-chafe creams.
Lois holds a Master's degree in Digital Journalism from Strathclyde University and obtained a Master of Arts in English Literature at the University of Aberdeen. As well as her time writing for over 200 local newspapers at Newsquest, Lois has bylines at Good Health, Wellbeing & The Great Outdoors, and Metro.co.uk.
Originally from the Western Isles in Scotland, Lois grew up surrounded by beaches and a love of the outdoors, which is why she runs to stay active but also to de-stress, boost her wellbeing, and enjoy time in the fresh air. When not writing, you can usually find her on a long walk, swimming in the sea, or planning the most scenic route for her next run.
